22/09/11 | CASPIAN THEATER OF THE ENERGETIC WAR

On the 12th of September the EU Council sitting took place, dedicated to the subjects of energetic security in the Euro-Union. The concluding document was the mandate, according to which the Euro-Union is going to negotiate with Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan regarding the gas supplies to Europe through the Caspian Sea. The EU, embodied by the Euro Commission will treat with Ashkhabad and Baku about the construction of a pipeline, which will make up a part of the South Corridor main, which Europe is intended to use to decrease its dependence upon Russian gas.

22/09/11 | WAR AT THE HOLY LAND MAY BE THE END OF THE ARAB SPRING. Part I

Arab Spring brought the demand of denouncing the Israeli-Egyptian agreement of 1979 to the surface. The overwhelming majority of Egyptian is abruptly anti-Israel-minded and now this is expressed in specific actions. Egyptians are not blocking the Iranian supplies coming to the Gaza Strip through the tunnel as fiercely as before.

21/09/11 | 13 KEYS TO THE WHITE HOUSE

Recent polls indicate that if the U.S. presidential elections took place today, Obama would have lost to both of his Republican rivals: Texas governor Rick Perry and former Massachusetts Mormon governor Mitt Romney. However, American professor Alan Lichtman believes that Obama has the re-election in the bag. He worked up a method he called «13 keys to the White House».

19/09/11 | BRITISH AMBITIONS: FROM ILLUSIONS TO REALITY?

What did Englishmen themselves gain from this six-year-long Cold War with its scandals, boycotts and — to top it all — the hacker attack at the site of Russian Embassy in London? During the age of Blair and Miliband Britain attempted to assume the role of a global arbiter, dealing in the estimates, statuses and meanings. Yet, the global economic crisis has drawn a line under these aspirations.

17/09/11 | LIBYA: THE WINNERS AND THE LOSERS. How much will Europe pay for Sarkozy’s mistake?

Mayhaps, the Mediterranean Union will be created one day but not on the ideological basis that the visionary from the Champs Elysee believed them to be. There are grounds to believe that it won’t be a French-led union of Europeanized nations, but rather a sort of contemporary Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf with Al Jazeera as the sole source of information. «Frankostan Emirate» will hardly play a key role in this community.

15/09/11 | WILL TURKEY FOUND AN «ISLAMIC NATO» AFTER THE ARAB SPRING?

Only Turkey or Saudi Arabia can host the emerging «Islamic democracies» under their auspice. Yet, the Saudi political system is way too archaic, and even given one’s sincere wish it cannot pass for «democracy». Besides, Saudi monarchy, albeit disposing huge financial resources, is hardly a mighty military force. It may have enough resources for suppressing the rebellion in a small island state of Bahrain, but no more than that. On the other hand, strength of the Turkish NATO corps is second only to the U.S. one, making the country much better fitting candidate, when it comes to the «security» issues.

14/09/11 | INDIA: THE RUPTURE LINES

Religious and ethnic separatism in India threatens not just its unity but the global stability in general. Consequences of a political breakup of a country with more than a one-billion-strong population, disposing the nuclear weapons, cannot be accurately predicted. Yet, not taking such opportunity into consideration means comforting oneself, while lying at the awakened volcano.

13/09/11 | TURKISH MARCH SOUNDS ALL THE LOUDER. Is Ankara threatening Cyprus with war?

Turkish stirring up at the Middle East, its attempt to scrape up the political fortune at the settlement of Palestinian conflict seems sufficient for solving the foreign-policy goals, which Recep Erdoğan set after winning the elections. Either appetite comes with eating, or the bellicose descendants of Mehmed the Conqueror took an offence for their maneuvers and demarches going unnoticed by the Euro-Union and the USA — be as it may, Turks have started an unprecedented sabre-rattling campaign.

11/09/11 | TEN YEARS THAT SHOOK THE WORLD

Ten years ago the most terrible act of terror in the human history was committed. Three digits — 9/11 — are familiar to any man on a planet today. The wealthiest, mightiest and most invulnerable country was attacked by a bunch of lunatics, whom no one treated seriously before. On the 9th of September, 2911 the world changed beyond recognition. The last ten years have passed under the sign of this event that changed the global geopolitical configuration and caused two wars. Little-known terrorist organization declared a war civilized world, having launched the processes that are under way even today. Still, no one has managed to guess all the consequences of these events.

11/09/11 | THE SHOW’S NOT OVER UNTIL THE GOP LADY SINGS! «Pre-election America-2012» cycle

The U.S. presidential election campaign is under way. There’s much less intrigue in it than during the last one in 2008. And it’s not even because the Russian campaign also started. It’s all about the fact that one bidder for the Presidential post is already known — it is the incumbent President Barack Obama. So the most part of action is on at the side his rivals — the Republican Party also known as the Great Old Party (GOP).
